Hi,

I apologize in advance if this reply spawns a new thread instead of
threading to the original, but while I'm subscribed, I do not to get
follow-ups (by choice)....

Speaking for myself only, with two Myth boxes, there is absolutely no
reason for me to watch live tv. And if I do want to watch live tv, I
certainly won't use a tuner on the computer, I'd use the tuner on the TV
itself (where the Myth boxen is plugged in).

While I don't doubt some folks would like to leave an encoder free for
live tv purposes, perhaps it would be better to have the logic use
available tuners first for scheduled recordings, and if the tuner is "in
use" already (say for live tv), then record the deferred instance.

I acknowledge that conflict resolution is an "expensive" operation, but
I don't think the solution is to avoid using it as much as possible.
The logic as it currently stands almost completely defeats the purpose
of multiple backends, since it won't "load balance" the recording
storage, etc. It may be true for some people that their "best" tuner is
on the master backend, and hence the current logic more desirable, but
should we perhaps we make this a user option? What do all of you think?

You say to-MAY-toe, I say to-MA-toe. :)

Thanks,
Mark
