This was not bleeding reds.  The effect I generally see in that case is
kind of a "sparkly" red.  This is the red text scrolling on the bottom of
the screen in the scoller graphic overlay with the text leaving red
vertical lines behind as it scrolls past.  Looks kind of like the "pipe"
character being drawn, but the spacing is irregular.  I think it has
something to do with the redering of the characters, but it is just a
feeling.

But thanks for the input.  (BTW: yes, it is NTSC TV out)
