[mythtv] OSD fade-out stuttering (with XvMC)

When the OSD tries to fade out, it causes live tv to pause/stutter.
I'm not sure if this is because I don't have enough CPU power (700MHz Athlon), or
because I'm using XvMC or both.
It's slightly different using the Xv driver, but still noticable.

I saw a post recently enquiring about a fix for the VIASLICE driver for a similar
problem, does anyone know any more about this?

If it is just lack of processing power, how would I go about removing the 'fade-out'
feature, and just make the OSD dissappear straight away?

thanks,
