:)  Yeah, I've got one of those.  

I imagined that, as JAC suggested, we would display a
numeric keypad with "abc", "def", etc. labeled.

Displaying it should probably be optional since I
imagine some people either have it on the remote
(although a lot of tv watching happens at night in a
dark room when the remote's labeling might not be very
visible...) or have it in their heads from lots of
text messaging.
