My new theory is something goofy in my database. I get the exact same behavior
when transplanting my database and that sample clip to my P4 at work (which
is actually running RHEL3, not FC2, and Joe is running KnoppMyth, so it ain't
distro-specific). Same stutter, same fps: -1 in the verbose output. I'm even
grumpier, because now Joe is getting fine playback of 720p it would seem (and
I have been able to at one point or another...). ;-)

Joe, do your 1080i stations play okay now?

Since my pcHDTV-equipped machine is a remote frontend/slave backend, I'll just
redirect it at itself with a clean database and see what I can see...

I'll try this too. Thanks again for all your help on this. I knew something
would eventually persuade/force me to get back into code some more... :-)
