Firstly, I know nothing about this thread, but for what it's worth, I 
believe the Jack audio system on Linux is very similar to Core Audio on 
OSX in that it is callback based.

I believe Ed has a Jack output tested and working from his comment on 
this thread.

Perhaps the Core Audio and Jack implementations will share some form of 
code??

Disclaimer: I know nothing. Nothing I say should be used any sort of 
documentation, information on audio APIs or as proof of anything, 
including who shot JR or whether or not OJ "did it".
