I don't see anything in the code that would cause that to happen... Is it
possible you have an issue with the database?  If you request the xml again,
is there anything else that repeats?

I am trying to get a remote backend setup to see if I can recreate the
problem... It's slow going because I am trying to get it up and running in a
Virtual Server session.

Let me know if you notice a pattern in recreating the problem.  

Are you having other encoder related problems in other parts of MythTv?
Keep in mind, that my changes are only for the status html/xml page.  It
does not effect any other part of the system.
