my latest ivtv_patch.diff is perhaps of help, as the vbi embedding was not 
switched on properly. no idea if this works for NTSC-CC. Alternative is to 
use ivtvctl and add the proper switches to enable CC. After that, just 
cat /dev/video > test.mpg

I'm busy with the same topic , but in a broader sense to also decode teletext, 
subtitles (page 888), vps/pdc and wss decoding.
