[mythtv] realtime mythcommflag not working?

Thanks for the quick reply Chris.

I can see it working in the background during the whole recording (and 
it reports it's progress in the job queue).  Looking at the logs, I 
think the glibc errors are to blame.  The relevant portions of the log 
file are:
