Yes, I hit this problem too. I believe it was triggered by this changeset:
http://svn.mythtv.org/trac/changeset/10718
My guess is that the patch might be setting the AC3 flag for non-AC3
content types? Anyway, I just switched to ALSA to solve it, which I've
been meaning to do for a while now anyway.
