Have finally committed the AC3 code.

Yes. After a few days of stuffing around, I concur.
Reconfigure() really shouldn't list passthrough as
an argument if it can't reconfigure it!
For now, I have changed OpenDevice to return false
if there is no digital output on the Mac.
Silence is better than packetised static!

Good idea. I will try adding that another day
(when I have the courage to explore NVP.cpp).
