that is what i said back in march
i've had no problems since rebuilding qt to use libmysqlclient_r

for the record, this is the way qt (of this vintage) is built. so it all 
got compiled right.
it was a bug that qt fixed some time ago in qt4
but my understanding is that myth doesn't support qt4
