Well, don't worry too much on that. We are introducing device specific 
algorithms for the devices that which do support them , as an initial go 
at the STB0899 i did implement the search and track callback for this 
very same approach only, such that we don't have dumb swzigzag's for tuning.

You can take a look at www.linuxtv.org/hg/~manu/stb0899 for a preview, 
for the callbacks.

In fact, it makes it look like hardware assisted searching or a complete 
hardware based search.

We can soon expect some nice stuff. But right now, load is a bit too 
high for me, so don't expect things to change overnight. ;-)
