I was not going to include file types (or ordering) mostly because I have a
streak of lazy that runs all the way to my center. Still, yes, something
almost exactly like that was my intention, with changes everywhere else so
you can only select a player profile/set a default one.

I hated that as well though not enough to actually change it, yet. There are
a number of things that make what should be a simple merge a bit more
difficult.

The internal player is great, when it works. I'm a time stretch addict (yes
for movies as well) so when it works I prefer the internal player. I still
use an external player somewhat often (good subpicture support being the
current leading cause). In other words, external player support will only
get easier.
