I deleted all channels and rescanned and (with the channels that were 
found) haven't seen a single tuning failure.

I know rescanning is often suggested to fix problems - what does it do 
that can mean the difference between broken and working?

My only problem now is that the transport for SBS here in Australia 
doesn't want to be scanned.

I can tzap the channels and get lock without issue, but the myth channel 
scanner refuses to find them. I've tried adding the transport manually 
to no effect.

Any ideas?
