Frustrating but true, it works now, though I had to eliminate all but
two of my -vid setups, now one for below 720x576 and one for greater
than or equal to 1280x720. So the one I had for 1920x1080 seems to not
have worked for that file?

Anyway, I also noticed that the Kernel (HW) deinterlacer does not seem
to be working for me for SD recordings even if I force interlaced
video scan to be on. switching back to the software version works
fine. I also notice that the Kernel (HW) deinterlacer doesn't seem to
drop my CPU use down any. Perhaps it wasn't working? Though I had the
fall back deinterlacer set to the software kernel deinterlacer.
