i note in the log the line:

2007-08-15 23:24:38.368 Display Rect  left: 0, top: 0, width: 1024, 
height: 576, aspect: 1.67136

my maths suggest that that should be 1.777777 (ie. 16:9)
the windows is sized to *be* 16:9

i'm sorry, but i cannot follow the calculations in videooutbase.cpp 
et.al. to see what is going on.
