This seems to fit very well with ideas I've been promoting for a number
of years.... many of you may remember this post I wrote from a few years
ago:

I know Stuart is against this approach but I really feel that utilising
other technologies to make a complete solutions is the right way.

I firmly beleive that the future of media applications will lie in the
use of an indexing system (a la spotlight for Mac but better - like
Tracker or Strigi) and the use of a FDO standard mechanism to query said

Eventually, I will be able to use Myth to play my music and Amarok to
manage it and play it on my laptop/desktop.

Myth and Amarok are only examples, insert your favourite
player/organiser here. Once all my music, views, playlists, and even
dynamic playlists are all calculated by querying an external indexer it
means I can jump about and use different applications for what they are
good at in the environment they are comfortable with. I will never use
Myth for management or ripping. It's just not the ideal interface for me
(my laptop can rip a LOT faster and quieter than my MythFrontend and I
can type in track names easier etc. for when auto-lookups are not
ideally formatted). I'd rather use MythWeb to organise the music which
is why I spent so much time helping Jochen with the MP3Act patches for
mythweb some time ago.

I reckon Stuart will disagree with this completely but at least I've
made my thoughts on the subject clear and eveyone has a right to think
differently.

I just really think we need to think outside the Myth Bubble. Apple has
made some amazingly useful apps by linking their programs together and
doing it well. Thinking insularly is not going to lead to the best solution.
