I don't think that's possible. There are so many possible
configurations of storage with MythTV, it's impossible to know why the
file is not available. And, especially with Storage Groups, we can't
just assume that the file is on the backend that recorded it--the file
can be stored anywhere (and, AIUI, can simply be moved from one
directory to another without "notifying" Myth).
The best we could do is say that a backend is currently unavailable and
that may be the reason the file is unavailable. However, that would
mean that we would be giving false hope to users when the file is in
fact gone. After booting the other backend, they'd be seeing the same
message. And, that doesn't even mention unavailable file servers.
TTBOMK, there's no way to know if the file is, in fact, on an
unavailable NFS/CIFS server or an unmounted partition or ...
Oh, and just to make sure you know... When you see the message:
Recording Unavailable
The file for this recording can not be found
- Show Program Details
- Delete
you're not forced to select either "Show Program Details" or "Delete".
You can just push Escape to cancel the popup...
I don't think it's worth changing the message on the popup (i.e to
something like "The file for this recording can not be found. Perhaps
it exists on an unavailable backend or file server."), but if others
think it would make things more understandable for users...
