I ran into this myself (at least it sounds like the same problem).  I
hadn't gotten around to trying to submit a clean patch myself.  Mainly
because I've never done that before.

I think what's going on here is that the error message is a duplicate.
 Check the setting and access for your video *covers* directory.  I
found that mine was not writeable by the apache user, but mythweb spit
out the same error as if it was the video directory (which of course
is confusing).  Fixing the covers directory link got it running for
me.
