Actually, Anduin was the one who explained the problem to me, and he, 
Stuart A., Stuart M., and Janne (and others?) recommended an approach 
for fixing it.  So, I just wrote a tiny bit of code and did a lot of 
tests.  (My development box definitely got a good workout on this 
issue--it probably served over 100,000 status pages getting bt's and 
over 36,000 more in testing the new patch.)

I think, though, that the backend status page is once again stable, just 
as it used to be and those polling it for status shouldn't have problems 
when 0.21 is released (though I hope more of them use/write scripts 
using the Perl bindings, instead ;).  Anyway, as I wrote the buggy code, 
I felt I should spend some time looking into fixing it.  :)
