I Agree with your sentiments there, but then how do you accept the
fact that Mythtv DOES create an ISO of an encrypted DVD (which I
believe is standard functionality) ?   It would also therefore seem
natural to expect that burning this ISO should result in a playable
DVD.     If mythtv devs/community want to steer-clear of any
"questionable legality" , then It would be necessary for all of this
DVD->ISO->DVD to maintain the encryption intact, or at least be
minimally disruptive of it so as to ensure that the resulting "burned
DVD" IS ENCRYPTED properly.

Based on the original reporters symptoms, it appears that there IS
"encryption detected", but there IS NOT "css/cppm" detected.   Does
this combination typically result in a playable DVD?  The reporter
seems to suggest that it does not, thus the problem.      Fixing this
does NOT have to mean removing any encryption/etc.    it could mean
the reverse.
