Maybe totally OT, but I've seen these "Bus error" messages on my 
NOT-Apple-based-linux-machine due to a faulty bzip2 of tar version. When 
I untarred a *.tar.bz2 I got these problems, they went away with newer 
or older versions. ldconfig reported incomplete lib-files
