Mark, I think it would  have been better to pass NULL for the player if
you didn't want VDPAU to show the embedded video.  You wouldn't have the
problems you are now finding yourself in. Even after your last commit
the interaction  between the tv player, guide and finder is still messed
up causing seg faults and the embedded video to not show when it should
for non VDPAU users.
