Someone, I think Chris P., floated an idea awhile back.  That idea was
to have one or mote recording rule templates to handle the cases where
the user always changes some settings to suit their tastes and needs.
You could still set the values for the default template based on
locale.  I'm just throwint that out in case you feel ambitious.
