As Daniel noted last night your other segfault backtrace doesn't really point 
anywhere either. Memory corruption is looking like a more likely cause for 
both. Either we're corrupting that memory, or another application or it's 
hardware.

Are any other applications crashing? If so try reseating the DIMMs and/or 
running memcheck.
