[mythtv] Statistics Gathering Feature

Hi all,

I was just catching up on the "way forward" thread and it occurred to
me that it might be easier to make planning decisions with hard
statistics on users' hardware. Has anyone considered adding a feature
(opt in or not) that gathers anonymous hardware stats? Steam (valve
software) does this really well. They use it both to publish
information to the community and to make decisions on their software.

Any opinions?
