Paul, this sounds a lot like the broken colorspace conversion when 
MythTV was compiled without MMX support.  The MythTV issue was fixed as 
part of http://svn.mythtv.org/trac/ticket/5670 , but the code there was 
different.  I haven't looked at the MZM code to see if it is related, 
but thought I'd mention the other issue just in case it helps.
