There are many database schema version changes.

You'll need to backup the database ( 
http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Database_Backup_and_Restore ) before 
upgrading, then restore the backup ( 
http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Database_Backup_and_Restore#Replacing_an_existing_database 
) when downgrading.
