exactly.

The best idea I came up with was getting the shared metadata database
running and then using a hybrid approach to hash EIT events and connect
them to proper metadata.

Hybrid as in "automatically based on manually created rules" (Channel X
uses title Y to refer to series Z) with manual matching for all that's
left.
