Hi Michael,
I am in the middle of the same thing, having no luck at all.
I am in the middle of recompiling a fresh kernel to see if that
helps.
What distro are you using?
I left a message last week looking for help with no response. I
have read that it can be done, but how?
I will keep in touch and let you know how I do.
Cheers...

Subject: [mythtv-users] ActiSys IR200L
I've been trying to get an ActiSys IR200L irda device working, but no
success. Yes, I've consulted the documentation, specifically section
8.7. I've followed those instructions to the letter. I compiled the
lirc package and installed it successfully. I can modprobe the
lirc_sir module and it appears to be loaded. I have a lircd.conf file
in /etc. I can also run lircd and it seems to be happy until I try to
run anything that uses it, such as irw or irrecord.
# /usr/local/sbin/lircd -n
lircd 0.6.6: lircd(act200l) ready
When I run irw, it returns immediately with no output, and lircd
reports the following:
lircd 0.6.6: accepted new client on /dev/lircd
lircd 0.6.6: could not get hardware features
lircd 0.6.6: this device driver does not support the new LIRC
interface
lircd 0.6.6: make sure you use a current version of the driver
lircd 0.6.6: caught signal
Terminated
Anyone else using an ActiSys IR200L? If so, did you follow the doc
section 8.7 and get it working? I'm using lirc 0.6.6.
Thanks!
-Mike
