I have 2 Seagate 80 GB 5200 disks here happily working on a single IDE
channel. I specifically baught 5200 disks for the reduced heat and
hopefully better reliability.

When I copied a huge directory (18 GB), it took extremely long (1.5
hours?), and I don't know why, yet recording while playback (on another
machine) works relatively well, together with an Athlon 1200 (I have
occasional framedrops at panning cameras, though, not sure why).
