I can barely hear mine when putting my ear right besides it... As a 
comparison, my OEM WD 100Gig WD1000BB and its whine was driving me 
crazy. My Barracuda is an OEM model, yours doesn't seem to, they might 
be set differently in the firmware... it's still a bit faster than the WD!
