a workaround is to set your window manager to focus under the mouse after a very short amount of time. if its really short you won't even see the wm gui.
just position the mouse position in a clear viewing region and you can stay on the couch. :)

  Subject: [mythtv-users] mythvideo losing focus

Anyone else having this problem? Whenever I view a video with mythvideo, when I hit Back/Exit on my Hauppauge remote, mythfrontend loses focus. I think it has something to do with mplayer exiting, but I can't fix it. It's annoying to have to go to the computer and click on mythfrontend to get the focus back before I can use the remote again. Curiously, using the Esc key rather than Back/Exit button doesn't cause this problem.

  Thanks,

  Dana
