Yay that someone else also had this problem :-)

I missed your previous email on the issue, but just digging it out
now, I can confirm this issue has nothing to do with ALSA vs.  OSS. 
It something to do with bttv, this Prolink card, and mythtv.  I wrote
a one line workaround which Isaac has included in 0.11.
