I am using ALSA on my Pundit front end with no problems at all. I am
using a pretty stock kernel 2.4.21 (compiled myself) with ALSA 0.9.4
(the Debian testing packages). I am using the snd-intel8x0 driver. The
only "trick" was that it was muted by default, I had to use amixer to
unmute the PCM and Master channels.
