[mythtv-users] Considering a MythTV

Open source drivers; if you're minded like that.

If I am reading this latest mythtv website news item correctly, then in
the near future, it would only take up PCI slot for those folks who want
a tv tuner but also do not have on board (or do not want to use on
board) tv-out and also do not want to use an external converter.
Admittedly, it's a rather expensive solution, but it would work if the
code goes in that Isaac proposed:

"As for what's going to happen in the (hopefully) near future, I'm
looking into rewriting the Video OSD code a little bit in order to
support the PVR-350 decoder -- the IVTV driver guys are close to getting
that all working nicely."

Supposedly you also gain an FM tuner as well, but so far, I haven't
figured out any real use for it.

If I am incorrect about anything here, please someone let me know.

Thanks,

Scott

I'm curious, since I'm currently facing the same buying decision.
Assuming the TV-out functions to come around, what benefits would there
be
using the PVR-350's TV-out versus a Geforce 2's s-video out?  I already
have the Geforce 2...wondering if the PVR-350 would really be worth it?

Thanks!
John
