Thanks for the corrections. I had been told more than once that 540p was
the equivalent, at least as far as amount of data displayed at one time,
to 108i, but what you're saying makes sense. I also forgot to consider
the fact that HDTV is widescreen. 
Matt, hope I didn't mislead you too much. Brandon's definitely the HDTV
expert around here.

To see 720P, which is 1280x720 you need 1280x1024 on a computer monitor.
For 1080i you need something over 1920x1080.  Although each frame of
1080i is 1920x540, it is not related to 540P in the DTV spec.  1080i
gives you the best picture quality for stationary video. 720P is best
for fast motion.  The best HDTV you can watch on a 800x600 monitor would
be 480P which is 720x480.  Where I live, 6 broadcasters use 720P, 2
1080I, and fox is still stuck at 480P.
