On the ivtv-devel list, where the streamtype profiles for the ivtv cards is 
discussed, I presume.

MPEG-2 PS is obviously for an MPEG2 Program Stream.
MPEG-2 TS is obviously for an MPEG2 Transport Stream
MPEG-1 VCD is obviously for a VCD compliant MPEG1 PS stream.

DVD, DVD-Special 1, and DVD-Special 2 are presumably different resolutions and 
bitrates that are DVD compliant. I suspect there is detailed info from the 
ivtv driver project.
