Thanks to everyone for the quick responses. You guys rule! I am one step
closer to committing to MythTV.

So, I am guessing that it makes no difference whether Nuppel, MPEG4 or MPEG2
is being used? You can watch a program while recording it with any of these
codecs?

Thanks,

Eric

Subject: Can MythTV play a scheduled recording while it is recording?

Hello MythTV users,

Forgive me if the answer to this question is easily available - I have
looked through the web site and the mailing list archives, and have not seen
this question adressed.

I am currently evaluating the ability of MythTV to act a a substitue for
TiVo. I would love to use MythTV, if it can do all the things I would like
(and if I can get it set up ;-))

My question is: Is it possible to watch a scheduled recording BEFORE it has
finished recording. E.g., if I set up a scheduled recording of Angel at 9pm,
and then want to start watching it a 9:15, can I do this?

Is the answer to this question different depending upon whether MythTV is
using Nuppel, MPEG4 or MPEG2 (i.e., with PVR250/350)?

I know about MythTV's "Live TV" timeshifting functionality - that is not
what I am asking about. I am specifically interested in shceduled
recordings, and the ability to timeshift those.

The answer to this question would be helpful to all folks like myself
persuing the mailing list archive. Thanks in advance for your help,

Eric
