Hi all,
I know this is not the lirc mailing-list but I thought maybe someone
had the same problem using the simple lirc serial transmitter from the
http://www.lirc.org/ site.
First, let me thanks all the developpers for that very useful MythTV
software. I use it since 0.7 with and old WinTV bt878 TV tuner and now
I bought a digital cable tuner (SA2000) to have a better resoltion and
to solve some "noise" problem on some analog cable channel.
So, first I read the tutorial from Kent on that mailing list
(http://www.gossamer-threads.com/perl/mailarc/gforum.cgi?post=67881;search_string=lirc%20kent%40kmtdesigns.com;guest=1708499&t=search_engine#67881)
Everything seem to be fine, I mean compiling lirc from the cvs and use
it as a receiver to change channel on my internal WinTV tuner card.
But when I try to plug my home-made ir transmitter (the simple one
from http://www.lirc.org/) I don't see me diode transmitter flashing
neither anything on my SA2000 using a command like "irsend SEND_ONCE
SA2000 2" where I get back that:
buffer: -BEGIN-
buffer: -SEND_ONCE SA2000 2-
buffer: -SUCCESS-
buffer: -END-
And, in /var/log/messages from the lircd daemon:
Dec 2 17:13:57 faleo lircd 0.7.0pre1[32489]: accepted new client on
/dev/lircd

(btw, I also run mdk-9.1 and I uninstall all the lirc stuff including
the libs). When I bought the diode transmitter I ask for a LD271 and
they sold me a NTE3017 from NTE which is called "Infrared Light
Emmitting Diode (LED)" with Peak Emmission Wavelenght = 950nm and a
Po=15mW.
Do you have any clue and/or any suggestion where I should look at to
troubleshoot that problem ? Is there a way to know what is transmeting
on my serial /dev/ttyS0 port ?
Thanks for any help.
