[mythtv-users] changing channels with mythtv?

I have just got my tv card and installed mythtv and i cant figure out
how to change channel. when i try, i just get the same channel over and
over. i can change channel with tvtime but i want to use this for
recording lots of stuff over night. 
I cant find out how to do this in the docs (probably missed something
easy). its a BTTV tv card.
