I had this problem when I tried to edit my osd.xml file last night.   It 
loads the osd.xml file when you open TV (live or recorded), NOT when 
browsing the menus.  The menus are driven by ui.xml I think.  Have you 
edited anything in your osd.xml?

Try changing OSD themes...

You'd think it wouldn't crap out the whole frontend simply because of 
one XML tag, but hey, you get what you pay for ;-)
