Doh!  Quite right.  I just tried transcode with rtjpeg, without luck.  I
guess that you don't have a pvr card?  Transcode may be able to handle
the mpeg4 recording, but I'm not sure how to do it off-hand.

On the upside, I think that I've got two-pass recording going for the
xvid codec, which improves the final product, if you have some extra cpu
cycles.
