Hi,
Have a system that runs mysqld, mythbackend, and
mythfrontend on the same box connected to my TV.
Watching LiveTV is smooth. No glitches.
Go to my desktop system in my office. Connected to
the mythbackend system using Wireless G with the
Linuxant driverloader. I get between 6 - 10Mbps in
NFS throughput tests. I use to have pauses watching
recorded programs until I started running mythfrontend
with nice -15 ( increase priortity ). Now its runs
smoothly.
But, when I try to watch LiveTV, it pauses briefly
every 3 - 5 seconds. I ran
mythfrontend -v file,network
and saw these messages:

Similar messages repeat over and over again. I
noticed
that whenever I get a pause onscreen, I get the
"prebuffering pause" on the console at about the same
time.
Does anyone know what these REQUEST_BLOCK_RINGBUF
messages mean? What does it mean when it
Requests: 103672 and Avail: is 61392?
Anyone have any ideas on how to get smooth video
watching LiveTV?
Also, can anyone say for a fact: Does MythTV use the
NFS mounts if I have /var/video NFS mounted? If
I get better NFS performance will that fix my problem?
Thanks,
Mike
