You can resolve dependenciy issues if you have packages with
different versions available. You can do it with apt-get as well
but its much more difficult.

Aptidude can visualize the problem much better than apt-get can.

Aptitude is a real geek application - its totally
user-un-friendly. But once you know all the keypresses you have a
very mighty tool.
