[mythtv-users] Sound problems, suggestions please.

if you think it's in myth try installing alsa first:
make sure you have alsa installed and configured correctly. I see you have a emu10k1 soundcard so this should be done to get it installed swiftly: 

1. make sure you haven't compiled any sound modules INTO the kernel, but you can have them selected as modules.
-- after getting that fixed (and rebooted if you needed to rebuilt your kernel):
2. env ALSA_CARDS="emu10k1" emerge alsa-driver alsa-lib alsa-utils
3. edit your /etc/modules.d/alsa
4. make sure to have: alias snd-card-0 snd-emu10k1 
   in there.
5. rc-update add alsasound boot
6. /etc/init.d/alsasound start
7. rebuilt mythtv with alsa support
