[mythtv-users] Newbie question/help

Sorry for the broad distribution, but...

I can't seem to get sound from mythtv, nor can I get sound from xawtv.

Mythtv reports:

Your soundcard is not reporting free space correctly.
Falling back to old method...

and no picture is displayed on mythtv, just a blue screen.|  I am able 
to watch tv with xawtv.

I have an old ixMicro TV Tuner.|  I don't know if it is set up correctly 
in modules.conf, but I have put the patch cable from the tuner card to 
the sound card input.  I DO have sound from the alsa test, and I can 
play MP3's and wave files.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
