[mythtv-users] Delayed Slowdown

I apologize if this has come up before, but I wanted to get an idea of
what I'm looking at, because I'm stumped.

I have nearly everything working the way I like it, except for one
thing.
When I view live television (no time-delay, just live television) it
runs at normal speed for about 5-7 seconds and then it starts running
really slow.
It looks like every frame is being played, just at a fraction of the
normal rate.

I tried cranking down my settings, but every time it does the exact same
thing.

After this I turned on sshd and ran top from one of my other systems
just to see what was going on. The results confused me even more. When
it runs at full speed for the first 5-7 seconds it is using about 70% of
the processing power of the box (640x480 mpeg4 at 3200b/s, max 1 min 10
step 3, compressed audio, quality 7). After it starts to slow down, the
percentage of CPU drops to about 40-50% and then continues like that
until I close the video stream. Then when I open it back up again it
plays fine for about 5-7 seconds and repeats the above effect.

Any ideas on why this is happening?

Here are my system specs:
AthlonXP 1700+
512M DDR266 CAS2.0
60G Western Digital Special Edition (dma is on)
LeadTek WinFast TV2000 XP

Thanks,
--Eric
