[mythtv-users] MythTV without PVR

So, I have a quick question ...

I want to use most features of the MythTV without using the PVR 
functionality (I have a DirecTV Tivo and am not ready to switch off just 
yet).  I love the feel and interface though of the addon modules (music, 
pics, weather, movie player).  

Is this as simple as not installing/starting the backend?
